Hello!
from the Family Support Program.
The Family Support Program is available for
all
families with a children with special needs (birth to eighteen) of age. The
program is a great place to connect
with other families and to gain support
and
information.
The goal of the program is to be readily available
to
offer a wide range of support services when families require help and
information. Services are provided in your home or at the Centre.
The Family Support
Social Worker provides information about programs, resources, benefits and rights, and can
give you a hand with parenting issues and behavioural concerns. She is also
readily available to help you coordinate all the services your child has. She can
assist you during transitions such as when your child enters kindergarten and
offers counselling and assistance in advocating for your child’s and family’s
needs.
The Family Support Social Worker has a background in Social Work and years of experience with working with
families. She enjoys meeting and working with all the families and is very
flexible to assist families with their varied needs.
The level of involvement with the Family Support program is up to you. Remember
you can always ask for help. You do not have to figure it out all by yourself.
There are
two Parent Support and Educational Groups and organized family fun
events including Christmas Parties, as well as a Parent Resource Library.
You can refer yourself to the Family Support Program by contacting
the Family Support Social Worker directly
or you can be referred by another NONA program or community agency.
Please contact
her anytime for more information; families deserve support.
