1.0 Speech Language Pathologist

The NONA Child Development Centre is looking for that special someone to complete our team!

Behaviour Interventionist

Job Summary: Working within the Autism Services program the position will assist children to participate in the program activities of the child’s behavior plan as developed by a multi-disciplinary team.

Responsible to:  Family Support Social Worker

DUTIES:

  • Assists the child to participate in all program activities such as matching, cutting, repeating and making choices by following the individualized plan as determined and directed by the multidisciplinary team for the child in the home or community setting.

  • Collects data as by observing and recording the child’s progress on the Individual Program Plan.

  • Prepares materials as directed i.e., Boardmaker materials, visual supports by sorting, cutting and pasting.

  • Observes, records and reviews child’s program with multidisciplinary team.

  • Participates in team meetings by providing input on child’s progress on the Individual Program Plan.

  • Attends training sessions as required.

  • Performs other related duties as required.

QUALIFICATIONS/SPECIFICATIONS:

Education/Experience & Training

  • Grade 12 education or equivalent.

  • Six months recent related experience working with young children with developmental disabilities.

  • Valid First Aid Certificate.

  • Valid driver’s licence and provide own transportation.

Skills & Abilities:

  • Ability to communicate effectively in a verbal and written manner.

  • Ability to take direction and to follow planned programs.

  • The ability to follow instructions and to work cooperatively and effectively in a child’s home or a child care environment.

  • Ability to perform basic computer skills such as word-processing.

  • Physical ability to perform the duties of the position.

START DATE:  as soon as possible

HOURS:  Casual
