The focus of our Over 6 Program is on lifeskills. For children over the age of 6, we offer a combination of behaviour intervention session, groups and consultative occupational therapy services. Currently you can choose any of three possible combinations of services:

  1. Two 1:1 sessions per week with Behaviour Interventionist

  2. One 1:1 session and one group per week

  3. One 1:1 session per week & monthly OT consultation

  4. One Lifeskills Group per week facilitated by OT or Behaviour Consultant with Behaviour Interventions

A little about our Lifeskills Group...

This exciting new group is being offered to enhance the skills of youth with Autism Spectrum Disorders. The goal of the group is to provide intervention and learning opportunities through a group setting, facilitating the creation of friendships and preparing for the challenges of the up and coming teen years (topics include such life skills as bullying, personal hygiene, maintaining friendships, chores like laundry, cooking, sexuality).

This group is provided in consultation with an Occupational Therapist and Behavioural Consultant. The Behaviour Consultant or Occupational Therapist will be assisted by Behavioral Interventionists. In the future we hope to include peers from other groups in the community as well.

The group is run for 8 weeks and will target youth who have the appropriate skills for participating in a group setting. For more information, contact the Autism Service Program.
