Supported Child Development Program
The Supported Child Development Program (SCD) provides services to children with special needs from birth to 12. The goals of the program are to successfully include each child in community child care programs, to encourage each child's development, and to provide support and education to the adults who care for them.
What Supported Child Development Consultants Do:
- Visit with families to understand child's needs in the child care setting
- Assist child care staff in assessing child's level of participation in their programs through observation & consultation.
- Develop a child's individual program that reflects parent priorities and choices.
- Small group sessions with community partners
- Assists parents in locating services for their child
- Coordinates transitions for child, such as within child care settings and starting kindergarten
- Offers educational opportunities for families and caregivers
